Newly acquired wing Mikal Bridges is reportedly not going to sign a contract extension with the Knicks before training camp.

This is according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Mikal Bridges wants to wait until the end of the upcoming 2024/25 season. The reason behind this decision, besides wanting to focus on basketball, is that he will be eligible for a four-year, $157 million extension in the next offseason.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported recently that “indications are” Bridges “will wait until next year” to sign an extension. The Knicks want Mitchell Robinson feeling 100 percent before he returns from another setback in his recovery from surgery, according to Tom Thibodeau.
