A Texas man who sued three women for allegedly helping his ex-wife obtain a medication abortion, one of the first and most explosive lawsuits after Texas began banning the procedure, has dropped his claims,

Three Republican incumbents are being targeted for their role in recent abortion rulings by a new Democratic political action committee.

The case was filed by Jonathan Mitchell, the anti-abortion lawyer who designed Texas’ 2021 abortion ban that is enforced through private lawsuits.

The administration said a state abortion law conflicted with a federal law requiring emergency care. The court similarly sidestepped a case from Idaho in June.

The lawsuit effort led by Marcus Silva asserted his wife learned of her pregnancy in 2022, and conspired with her friends Jackie Noyola and Amy Carpenter to obtain abortion medications. Silva claimed his wife hid the pregnancy from him.
