While the northern lights captivated countless people across the Tri-State Area this week, Mother Nature isn't finished showing off yet.

Discovered last year, the comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS will be visible in the California sky on Saturday night for the first time in 80,000 years.

The prime viewing nights for comet C/2023 A3 should be between Monday and Oct. 24, NASA says. An astronomer recommends using binoculars.

Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas, also known as C/2023 A3, is making its way towards Earth and is expected to be visible to the naked eye – meaning without a telescope or other equipment – on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10, according to NASA. The visibility of the comet is dependent on clear weather conditions.

BOSTON - It isn't often that we get the chance to see a comet with the naked eye. But, in a year already filled with so many astronomical treats, it looks like we will be able to add a comet to the list.
